To promote social awareness and goodwill with an attitude toward sharing and helping others by becoming a resource guide to link individuals in need with available resources.
Underlying Principle
The universal role of an aunt or uncle is that of additional caregiver. In parts of the world where it still takes a village to raise a child, every neighboring adult is an "uncle" or an "aunt." In some cultures, young men are natural heirs to their uncles; in others, young adults can count on that relative to help with college expenses, a first home or a situation where the parents are not in a position to provide. At the very least the elder gives candy or movie money, dispenses wisdom or counsel and offers guidance to help navigate life issues. Location The Aunts and Uncles Foundation was founded in Jersey City, New Jersey and is currently based in the Houston area in Texas. It works with local churches and other community-oriented organizations in both cities to identify prospective candidates for its modest outreach efforts.
A couple of degrees above destitution are households that have scarcely enough to make ends meet. An "aunt" or "uncle" provides the extra when things get tight or extend the occasional gift that will allow family members to experience some of life's richness.
The "Aunts" and "Uncles" of the foundation endeavor to become a resource or guide for disadvantaged youth and by extension their immediate family.
